Illegal oil well in Jambi has not been extinguished for 3 weeks

The illegal oil well fire in the Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Batanghari Regency, Jambi , has not yet been extinguished. It has been 3 weeks since the fire has yet to be extinguished.
Acting Head of Sub-Division of Penmas for the Jambi Regional Police, Commissioner M. Amin Nasution, confirmed that the fire that had been burning since Friday (23/2) night had not been extinguished. The police together with Pertamina are still trying to extinguish the fire.

“The steps taken have been coordinated with Pertamina to try to extinguish the fire,” he said, as reported by detikSumbagsel , Monday (4/3/2024).

Amin said access to remote locations was one of the obstacles. The team is currently working to prevent the fire from spreading to the forest area at that location.

“Indeed, this terrain is quite difficult to reach, so Pertamina is still carrying out blackouts as much as possible,” he said.

In this case, the police have named 4 suspects, of which 1 suspect with the initials DE (30) died when the fire broke out. Currently there are 3 people detained at the Batanghari Police Headquarters.
